[ -- so maybe it's not quite the birthday he'd been hoping for. it's not comfortable, with them snuggled up on the starstruck as though it's a home away from home. it's not particularly thrilling, either, because there's no foreign planet to explore and abscond to together.
but there are movies. and (somehow) steve talks her into cramming them both into a viewing nook and sharing headphones to watch jaws. and (somehow) she enjoys it. a sly smile gets pinned to the rising action, and maybe, just maybe, her heart races a little at the adventure of it all.
afterward, sharing a meal that's not nearly quite so celebratory as she'd like, peggy raises a glass of off-taste amber alcohol to 'toast' him. ]
