[ in theory, it's just one day like any other day. there's no proper sun to judge the hours. no earth's rotation to measure time, either. but they can schedule their own christmas -- and together, the fleet has done exactly that. despite a streak of rebelliousness, peggy plays along with the choice. and for weeks, now, she's had a slim volume of poetry stashed beneath her bed.
truthfully, she'd been on the fence about it. hadn't really managed to convince herself the gift was a good idea. but then everything that had happened at the hotel had seemingly precipitated some fresh chapter in their lives, here. so she found a bit of cloth and she wrapped the book up snugly and now -- back on the starstruck for christmas -- she frets over how to give it to him.
in the end, she decides to leave it on his bed. he'll cross paths with it eventually. and when he unwraps it, he'll find a copy of sonnets from the portuguese. ]
